In its 2014 re-evaluation of propyl gallate (E310), the EFSA ANS Panel derived an ADI of 0.5 mg/kg bw/day, withdrew the old group ADI shared with octyl and dodecyl gallate, and concluded that use of propyl gallate as a food additive at the current uses and use levels is not of safety concern.

Europe's food-safety regulator (EFSA) reviewed propyl gallate and set a safe daily limit, concluding that the way it is used in food today is not a safety concern.
