Commission Regulation (EC) No 884/2007 suspended the use of E 128 Red 2G as a food colour (26 July 2007) as an emergency measure, after EFSA found it is readily and extensively metabolised to aniline, a substance EFSA regarded as being of (carcinogenic) safety concern.
